Light Gage Steel - Interior Non-Load Bearing Walls
While interior partition walls are often referred to as 'non-load bearing', building codes require that these walls be designed for a minimum lateral load (generally equal to 5 PSF). If these walls are to support brittle finishes the deflection requirments may also be an issue. ClarkDietrich has a useful tool for determining the stud requirments of these 'non-load bearing' walls using their ProStud product line.
